21 Jun 2012 The Globe Guard Reusable Box Sealer (GGRBS) is the Perfect Box Closure for Work in Progress (WIP)
Since we launched the Globe Guard® Reusable Box Sealer late last year, our customers have found numerous unique applications for this new product that temporarilyholds an RSC style box closed. One of the most popular uses is for “work in progress” which is essentially unfinished or incomplete materials in a manufacturing process.
Examples of WIP
It may be an item that still needs to go through a cleansing process and/or perhaps be painted. Or, it may be product that still requires additional steps to make it complete such as grinding, plating, or even sandblasting. In this age of private labeling and contract manufacturing, another popular use is for labeling of a particular product. When the product is manufactured, assembled or filled, the ultimate customer may not yet be determined, so it is not unusual for the custom labeling to be done at a later point.
What all of these situations have in common is that the next step in the manufacturing process may occur days or weeks later, as well as at a different plant or department. In all of these cases, the product is typically placed inside a corrugated box, only to be removed later as the manufacturing process continues.
What Makes the Globe Guard® Reusable Box Sealer Ideal?
The GGRBS has the unique ability to slide in-between the major (large) flaps on any corrugated RSC style shipping box, temporarily holding the box closed. It eliminates:
- Quarter folding the box flaps
- Tape or adhesive
- Expensive die cut “reclosable or reusable” corrugated box designs
The Benefits of the Globe Guard® Reusable Box Sealer
Obviously it can reduce or eliminate the cost of tape and/or adhesive. One company has reduced tape consumption by 50% simply by taping only the bottom of the boxes and using the GGRBS on top
The GGRBS also extends the life of the box and can actually double the number of times the same corrugated box can be reused before it is discarded, hopefully to be recycled. Keep in mind, most boxes are discarded because of the way they look, but in most situations, they are still in good physical condition with plenty of life left in them.
Compared to using tape to temporarily keep boxes closed, and then having to cut them open later when necessary, the GGRBS saves labor because it is quicker and safer. In addition, the time and energy it takes to strip boxes of tape so they can be reused can be completely eliminated.
