There is no shortage of tariff talk on any news program or the internet. Unlike the scores of “experts” who are eager to tell you what is going to happen or not happen, we have no such crystal ball or self-proclaimed expertise. What we do know is that our packaging products and customers will remain unaffected, no matter what happens. Why, because 100% of our products are made domestically in the USA. We don’t know how this world tariff war is going to end but we know our customers are not likely to suffer, at least not in terms of their packaging.

If you scroll all the way down to the bottom of the home page of our web site, you will see how we proudly proclaim that all our products are made domestically. That is not because of some nationalistic pride or global political position, but because it is practical and makes good business sense. We have been doing this long enough to know there are at least six good reasons to manufacture your packaging domestically.
Six Reasons to Buy American Made Packaging
- Availability and Lead Times- most of our products have a 2-to-3-week lead time. Shipping alone from overseas can take that long.
- Quality and Consistency – Not to be critical but both can be tough to come by from some foreign packaging sources. Our manufacturing partners are fully vetted, and most have been producing great looking packaging for us for ten years or longer.
- Shipping Cost – domestic shipping is not inexpensive, but it can be a fraction of what it costs to ship products from the other end of the world. A lower product cost can be quickly offset by a substantially higher shipping and handling cost.
- Communications – English is our only language making it easier for us to understand and meet if not exceed your expectations and requirements.
- Time Zone Differential – we are centrally located in suburban Chicago but many of our customers are either west or east coast. We have no problem scheduling calls or meetings but it’s not that simple with foreign suppliers.
- Terms and Conditions – no letters of credit, advance bank transfers or any other possibly problematic payment methods. We accept credit cards, ACH, or offer terms with credit approval.
Tariffs Come and Go….
But quality products and services are long-lasting. At the risk of sounding like an old guy, which I am, I am approaching my 50th year in the packaging business and I have witnessed many different types of market conditions. During our 18 years as Salazar Packaging, we have worked through a terrible economic depression and a worldwide pandemic. We have survived and flourished through both because we never lost sight of why and who we serve. The philosophy is quite simple – do what is good for our customers and everything else works out. The same will hold true during this tariff season.
