Right-size your e-commerce boxes for big savings
There are many reasons to “right size” or minimize the size of your e-commerce boxes. For example, many of our customers utilize a fulfillment operation and it is no secret that they charge per pallet to store your products and packaging until they are needed. In addition to storage costs, INBOUND freight charges can really add up so the smaller the box, the more we can put on a pallet, the fewer pallets are needed and the total savings can be quite significant. The largest potential savings however can be in the area of OUTBOUND shipping cost. In this era of dimensional freight charges, whether you ship via UPS, USPS or FedEx, your cost to ship is determined by the cubic inches your box takes up on the plane or in the truck. The cost difference between one size bracket and the next can be as much as $2.00, which more than covers the cost of a box that is typically well under $1.00 each.
The “just in case” box sizing mistake
Many new companies, new to packaging and shipping, often make the mistake of oversizing their box, just in case they ever ship something larger. Most of the times, that need never materializes, so they unintentionally end up over-paying on all their boxes for all the reasons listed above. Recognizing that savings opportunity for our customers, we are pleased to add four new small boxes and will remind you of four other small sizes we have available for you. These include:
3-7/8” X 3-13/16” X 2-1/8” tuck top die cut corrugated mailer
4” X 4” X 4” lock front Indestructo style die cut corrugated mailer
4-9/16” X 4” X 2-1/16” tuck top die cut corrugated mailer
5-1/2” X 2-1/2” X 2-1/4” lock front die cut corrugated mailer
4-1/4” X 4-1/4” X 3” lock front die cut corrugated mailer

Small e-commerce box minimums?
The MOQ on most of our boxes is 1,000, but on some of these smaller ones, it can increase to 1,500 or even 2,000 because of board color, print requirements, and corrugated sheet size.
Of course, printing on the outside or inside of the box as well as the insert impacts pricing There is no price list because every box and customer are different as well. What I can assure you is that we create the most effective, best looking boxes (see our gallery) at the lowest possible cost.
