We were involved in eco-friendly DTC packaging from the very beginning in 2007. Since then we have introduced many innovative designs and techniques. They include being one of the first companies to market and promote inside printing on die cut mailer boxes, printing white ink on Kraft board when other companies said it was not possible to developing a stock cutting die inventory for our “semi-custom” program.
In the early years of direct to consumer packaging, marketing people were asking for packaging that delivered “the WOW factor”. These days it is most often referred to as “the unboxing experience” and we are proud to say we have changed that to mean more than a visually pleasing event. We have developed a box design that literally gives the recipient an experience they have never had before while potentially reducing your costs.
The Knack Shops brings back the WOW factor!
Our good friends at www.KnackShops.com provide attractive, expertly curated gifts that you can ship cross country for any gift giving event or holiday. Check out their site to see the beautiful gift options they offer. When they contacted us a few months ago, they were simply looking for pricing on their standard die cut mailer boxes. Each rigid wall “gift” box they send out ships within a corrugated shipper for protection and hopefully allows the reuse of the attractive paperboard gift box.
We were happy to quote on their box usage but also offered several other design options. We know that tall (over 4”) die cut mailers are expensive so one of the samples we showed them was a basic one panel folder that could substantially reduce the amount of board used, and thereby their cost per unit. However, we also noticed that our design could “pop” open for a great presentation. With some tweaks by one of our favorite designer friends, we were able to enhance that unveiling. You can almost hear the “Ta-Da” as the flaps fly open and the gift inside is exposed. Check out the video below and imagine your customer’s reaction when the contents are revealed.
The Ta-Da Box™ by Salazar Packaging
This is one of the most exciting things that has happened in DTC packaging since e-commerce became the preferred way for many people to shop. Each one is a custom designed solution, so minimums do apply, but they are reasonable at 1,000 to 3,000 depending on the box size and graphic requirements. Of course, custom flexographic printing is available inside and out as well as other techniques and finishes such as offset printing, litho label or even digital printing. Keep in mind the MOQ for some of those other printing methods could be higher.
